MLB Exhibition baseball action for March 05, 2006
Los Angeles 5 @ Oakland 8
* Freddie Bynum (OAK) has a good day going 2 for 2 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs.
NY Yankees 3 @ Toronto 2
* It’s Matsui Time. Hideki Matsui went 3 for 3 including a double. Matsui, as you might know, elected to not play in the special world baseball event.
Florida 3 @ St. Louis 4
* Mark Mulder (STL) had a fabulous outing today. Mulder breezed through three innings, striking out three and only giving up a lone hit.
San Francisco 1 @ Chi Cubs 5
* The story of the game was pretty much Kevin Correia (SF), who pitched the first 1.2 innings of the game and surrendered four hits and three earned runs. The Giants never recovered.
Chi White Sox 5 @ Arizona 6
* Contreras motors along. Jose Contreras (CWS) blew away 5 hitters in 3 innings of work today. He did surrender 5 hits, but only one led to a run.
NY Mets 2 @ Los Angeles 16
* Nomar Garciaparra (LAA) goes hitless again. For the third straight game in which Garciaparra played, he put up a bagel. Garciaparra was 0 for 2 tonight, while the rest of his team scored 16 runs. Garciaparra is still looking for that first magical hit of spring.
Baltimore 6 @ Washington 10
* Marlon Anderson (WAS) went 2 for 4 today including one long ball and 2 RBIs.
Houston 3 @ Philadelphia 4
* Cory Lidle (PHI) pitched three innings and gave up 2 hits and one earned run. He had a very solid performance—although he recorded no strikeouts.
Kansas City 13 @ Colorado 8
* Scott Elarton (KC) gets shelled, but KC wins anyway. Elarton pitched 3 lackluster innings today. The 8 hits he gave up turned into 5 earned runs. Colorado helped him out by putting their bad pitching efforts on the mound as well.
Boston 1 @ Minnesota 5
* Tim Wakefield (BOS), who is still pitching in the majors, had two nice innings of work today. He struck out two batters, walked one, gave up one hit and kept runs off the board.
