Opening Day

What a great day of baseball. Technically, the seasoned opened last night with the Indians at the White Sox, but today is when all the other teams played. That game last night was disgusting. Today’s action featured some blowouts and some players picking up where they left off. Some notable action:

Albert Pujols (STL) smacked two homers today and drove in 4 RBIs.

Hideki Matsui (NYY) went 4 for 4 with one homerun and 4 RBIs.

Chris Shelton (DET) hit two homers today.

Roy Oswalt (HOU) absolutely shut down the Marlins. He pitched 8 innings with 8 strikeouts and gave up no runs.

Kenny Rogers (DET) had a good debut against the Royals. His 6 innings of work helped the Tigers start off on the right foot.

Curt Shilling (BOS) put spring training behind him and threw 7 good innings against Texas allowing only 2 runs.

Dontrelle Willis (FLA) pitched five glorious innings today and received not one run in support. His outing against the Astros will go unnoticed. Unfortunately, this might be a trend this year and Willis may only win 10-14 games because of it. While he will pitch like the 22 game winner he was last year, there will be no runs to back up his great performances.
